"I have won!" Julian barked, his smile vanishing as his finger pressed firmly against the trigger. "Say goodbye to your wife, Don Moretti. I'll make sure your little girl in Boston meets the same fate by tonight—"

*BANG! BANG!*

The high-pitched crack of twin gunshots echoed sharply from the choir loft high above the altar.

The two guards standing to Julian’s left collapsed instantly to the stone floor, their weapons clattering uselessly against the tiles.

Julian gasped in shock, spinning around as the heavy wooden doors at the back of the church burst open with a violent crash. A dozen men dressed in black tactical gear with Moretti crest patches flooded into the sanctuary, weapons drawn, red laser sights illuminating Julian's chest in a dozen overlapping dots.

Leading the assault force was Marcus—Vincent's legendary, fiercely loyal chief of security.

Julian stood frozen, his eyes wide with absolute horror as he realized he had walked straight into a trap.

"Did you really think I didn't know Sophia put a tracker on my car, Julian?" Vincent asked coldly, stepping out from behind the altar, his own weapon now drawn and aimed precisely between Julian's eyes. **“I’ve known about your operational movements for forty-eight hours.** I let you follow me here so you would confess everything on church grounds.”

Vincent motioned with his chin toward the corner of the altar. Hidden behind a statue of Saint Patrick, a small, red LED light was blinking steadily—a broadcast recording device streaming every word directly to the syndicate's governing council elders.

Julian dropped his gun, his hands flying into the air as Marcus's men tackled him heavily to the floor, pinning his face against the cold stone, binding his wrists with heavy zip-ties.

"Take him to the Lake Forest estate," Vincent commanded, his voice cold and devoid of passion. "And secure Sophia and Arthur Bennett. No one leaves the city."

"Understood, Boss," Marcus replied, dragging a screaming, cursing Julian out through the heavy wooden doors.

The church fell silent once more. The tactical team cleared the perimeter, leaving Vincent and me standing alone near the altar under the soft glow of the prayer candles.

Vincent slowly re-holstered his weapon, turning to face me. He looked deeply shaken, not by the gunfire or the threat on his life, but by the sheer, unvarnished truth that had just been dragged into the light.

"Claire," he said, his voice raspy with emotion. "It's over. Julian is finished. Your parents... they will face the syndicate's council for their treason."
