Chapter 29
"Mommy!" Emily called out cheerfully, her small pink instrument case bumping against the doorframe as she stepped into the foyer. "I mastered the Bach suite today! Mr. Harrison said I can perform the solo at the winter concert!"
I quickly folded the letter, slipping it into the velvet box, and locked it away in the private drawer of my desk. I wiped my cheeks, taking a deep, steadying breath, and walked out into the hallway with a radiant smile.
"That's incredible, sweetheart!" I said, opening my arms as she ran into them, wrapping her tiny arms around my waist.
I held my daughter close, inhaling the clean, familiar scent of her hair, listening to her excited chatter about music, her friends, and her plans for the weekend.
I looked down into her striking, beautiful gray eyes—eyes that once brought me unbearable pain, but now represented only strength, resilience, and an unshakeable future.
We had survived the darkest storm imaginable, emerging unbroken, free, and completely whole.
**I held my daughter’s hand, walked into the bright afternoon sun, and never looked back.**
